The Situation

Petcurean is a global, premium pet food company whose innovation team knew they needed to understand pet parents better than anyone else to lead the category.

For more than 25 years, Petcurean has made nutritionally-superior recipes for dogs and cats with all different tastes, dietary needs, and preferences in more than 30 countries.

Together, we identified pet parents’ problems to solve today, used AI to map trends tomorrow, and created an innovation pipeline of award-winning products across their flagship brands.

The Strategy

StarryEyed and Petcurean gleaned new consumer, cultural, culinary and company insights to confirm the equities and competitive advantages that can help make their brands famous.

With real-world ethnographic research among dog and cat owners in the US and Canada, we confirmed pet parents’ unmet needs and most important problems to solve caring for fur babies.

Then we envisioned the future of pet care. With future forecasting, expert interviews, and AI trend tracking across countries, we predicted what pets and their parents will need tomorrow too.

Knowing where the category and brands are now, and where they can and will be, enabled us to create new, consumer-centric offerings. It also ensured we could quickly make ideas reality.

With concept testing and in-home use tests across dog and cat owners, we perfected the ideas and messaging. Working closely with Petcurean’s pet nutritionist and culinary experts, we also confirmed key claims and recipes.

The collab resulted in several successful, new launches with more to come. GO! Solutions Benefit Chews, NOW FRESH Good Gravy, and GO! Solutions Boosters are wowing pet parents, retailers and experts alike.

Go! Solutions Boosters earned the “Pet Food Solution of the Year” at The Pet Innovation Awards of 2023 and GO! Solutions Benefit Chews were named one of Modern Dog’s “Best Dog Treats of 2024.”
